Since all of you seem to talking about bands you are into and currently into, I thought I would throw out Myrath. This is probably the only band I have ever heard from Tunisia
. These guys sure can blend the metal with strong Arabic touches to create a new take on world music.
They started out as a Symphony X cover band
, but clearly have moved a fair bit away from playing straight homage to the classic NJ band, as they have their own unique take on the prog/power style. They are closer to the stuff Amassefer brought out than say, Orphaned Land. Every member is insanely skilled at their musical instruments, but do not show off and do NOT fall into the
camp of virtuoso playing.
I own the disc 'Desert Call' and have ordered their other c.d. 'Hope" because I love the stuff they have come up with so far. You can check em out at
